In 2009, three aging sports icons, Pedro Martinez(38), Brett Favre(40), and Shaquille O'Neal(37), having played for at least three professional teams, demonstrated extraordinary grit and determination, refusing to quit or retire, and joined a new team in order to win "one more championship". Pedro Martinez, pitching with the intensity and determination of a 20 year old, led the Philadelphia Phillies into the World Series; Brett Favre has led the Minnesota Vikings into a playoff spot in the NFL and is a serious MVP contender, and, Shaquille O'Neal has teamed up with LeBron James of the Cleveland Cavaliers and is on his way to help win the franchise's first NBA championship. Remarkably, all three superstars started their professional careers in 1991-1992, providing a new meaning to the term "forever young".
